BIXBI goes above and beyond standard pet food testing protocols to verify safety and accuracy.
Every batch of our products is tested for microbial contaminants such as salmonella, listeria, and e.coli. For our grain friendly recipes, we also test our sorghum and oats for mycotoxins to make sure they are completely safe before they go into our food.
To ensure accuracy of nutritional content, we also test each batch for appropriate levels of protein, fat, moisture, fiber, and minerals. We also regularly test our recipes for amino acid profiles.
Additionally, our products undergo rigorous testing using third-party labs for contaminants and environmental toxins. We test for heavy metals and toxins such as aflatoxin and ochratoxin.
We proudly source as many ingredients as possible from the USA. However, certain ingredients are not produced or are not readily available in the USA year-round. To ensure consistency, some of our ingredients are sourced globally from quality suppliers that have been vetted and audited regularly by third-party bodies and held to the same high standards that we set for our US suppliers. We require Certificates of Analysis from suppliers which are reviewed prior to every production run along with additional regular raw material testing.
BIXBI employs a PhD in Companion Animal Nutrition, a Board Certified Veterinary Nutritionist and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM), in addition to other industry experts with decades of canine and feline nutrition experience. Our nutritional team works closely with our product development team to formulate, test and certify each recipe exceeds AAFCO guidelines for complete and balanced.
We partner with global leaders in animal nutrition science to source our vitamins and minerals. Because we guarantee complete and balanced nutrition for the entire shelf life of our foods, we supplement our recipes with synthetic sources of vitamins and minerals to ensure complete and balanced nutrition from the first kibble to the last. We prioritize sourcing these and all our ingredients from trusted suppliers from around the world that have been vetted and audited regularly by third-party bodies.
We proudly make all our dog products right here in the USA. Our Freeze-Dried Cat Food and Dry Cat Food are also made in the USA.
Only our Wet Cat Food is produced in Thailand at a state-of-the-art facility. This facility specializes in producing the highest quality, and most consistent wet cat food that we could find.
Our family-owned kibble facility is inspected by 3rd party auditing bodies that follow GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) standards which are globally benchmarked standards in food safety and quality. This ensures that our facility has vetted Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) as part of their food safety and quality program.

Over the last couple of years, Dilated Cardiomyopathy (DCM), a heart condition, has surfaced in veterinary and nutrition conversation. Recent studies indicate that there is no scientific evidence to link DCM to grain-free food. Take a look at this report for more information. Please know that while our diets include plenty of naturally occurring taurine, methionine, and cystine, some diets are supplemented with extra Taurine and L-carnitine.
